“ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪਾਂ ਚ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ—ਥਥਾਈ ਦੇ ਠਾਹ-ਠਾਹ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਤਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਮਿਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲੀਆਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਜਾਂ ਹੀਰ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਓ, ਕੰਕਰੀਟ ਮਿਕਸਰ ਦਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਤੇ ਜਨਰੇਟਰ ਦੀ ਬਦਬੂ ਹੈ। ਕੰਮ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ, ਧੱਕਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।”

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

“Earlier, our workspaces had music—the rhythm of wooden mallets during thathai created a beat. Masons would sing folk couplets or tales of Heer while compacting the plaster.
