Living artisans, beyond the museum
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
“Now, when a senior officer or heritage board summons us, they display us like museum exhibits—“Look, here is a traditional lime mason.” We were living artisans; now we are reduced to showpieces. We are glad that historic forts and Gurdwaras are being saved, but the grief remains that this knowledge has been permanently evicted from everyday homes.”Collection: Oral histories of lime masonry · Curated by Reeva Chopra, Project Zinda Virasat Living Heritage.
